Ginger Costa Jackson
Observed by the New York Times as a ravishing mezzo-soprano from Italy, Ginger Costa Jackson is one of the most exciting and beautiful interpreters of Carmen today. With a voice possessing dark, rich colourings and considerable body, Ginger is enjoying a career much in demand from some of the world’s most renowned opera companies. A graduate of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program, she started singing at the Met at the age of 21. After performing a range of supporting characters, she made her main stage debut in a principal role as Rosina in The Barber of Seville. Following a series of performances as Carmen in San Francisco, Michigan and Virginia Opera, she will return to Europe to sing in a new production at the Paris National Opera at Bastille. Ginger comes to Asia for the first time for the challenge of portraying Musetta at the invitation of Musica Viva Hong Kong.
