Our Vision

Musica Viva is a non-profit-making organization founded in October 2008. Its founding members are a group of keen supporters of the performing arts, who have extensive experience offering advice on developmental, outreach and educational aspects in the field at policy-making level.
Musica Viva’s vision is to promote performing arts of creative originality in their various forms and genres, in particular the appreciation, study, education and performance of music, opera and vocal art, as well as to create opportunities for creative and professional career development for budding artists. Musica Viva champions performing formats that demonstrate aesthetic refinement, genuine artistic content, and insightful interpretations presented with honesty and economy.
Musica Viva became a recipient of financial support from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in July 2009 and was granted charitable institution status with tax exemption by the Hong Kong Government in February 2010.

Director-General

Lo Kingman was born in Hong Kong and educated at the Diocesan Boys’ School and The University of Hong Kong. He won an Italian Government Scholarship for advanced studies at the University of Rome, where he also received training at the Opera Theatre of Rome and the Morlacchi Theatre of Perugia.
Since the 1960s, Lo Kingman has written, directed and designed over a hundred stage productions ranging from opera, drama, to music and dance theatre, with performances in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Europe and America. During 2008-10, he directed ten major western opera productions for Musica Viva of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Beijing Music Festival, the Shanghai Opera House, the Zhou Xiaoyan Opera Centre of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Singapore Lyric Opera, all enthusiastically received with warm critical acclaim.
Over the years, Lo Kingman has made significant contributions to the Hong Kong community, not only in the performing arts but also in the fields of higher education and public service. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honours from international academic and arts institutions as well as the HKSAR Government and several foreign nations. In 2008, he participated in the creation of Musica Viva, an organization dedicated to nurturing young artists, and served as its Director-General.
General Manager

Leung Siu Kwan received her Master of Arts (Music) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree (major in vocal and minor in piano) at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She was awarded an Italian Consulate Scholarship to further study in Italy. She later received a project grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council for her research on the development of opera in Hong Kong which led to her publications include The History of Opera in Hong Kong – A Review of Lo Kingman’s Productions. She also published the Aural Guide for ABRSM and Demo Series: ABRSM and Trinity college examination pieces for voice.
Leung is currently the General Manager of Musica Viva Limited, involving in numerous projects in her ten years of tenure, including the Hong Kong International Operatic Singing Competition 2021, Madama Butterfly, Turandot, Le Nozze di Figaro, Carmen, Rigoletto, La Bohème etc. She also assisted in coordinating the “Andrea Bocelli Asia Tour…With Passione Live in Hong Kong 2013“. Selected as one of the delegates in the 2015 and 2016 Performing Arts Market in Seoul organized by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, she promoted locally produced operas in the international market for performing arts. In 2016, Leung toured opera houses in Italy, the United States and Australia under the support from “Overseas Training Scheme for Arts Administrators” of the HKADC. She is sponsored by the HKADC to participate as a delegate in the Classical:NEXT 2018 and 2019 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Leung recently received a cultural exchange grant from the HKADC to co-produce a gala concert with Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra at Saigon Opera House.
